Spring in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem

I have already taken a few trips to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem this spring! I have seen tons of different wildlife species and has been an absolute blast. My “hot spots” have been Lamar Valley and Colter Bay, which are in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.

Spring is my absolute favorite time to photograph wildlife because the snow is melted in the valleys, but not in the mountains. Because of this, animals stay close to trails and roads for more accessible photo opportunities. In addition to that- you cant beat seeing baby bears and bison! At a distance of course- their Mom’s are quite protective.

My favorite photos consist of fox, grizzly bears, ducks, sandhill cranes, and elk. The best part about the GYE is the access to extreme amounts of biodiversity. In 1 day it is not uncommon to see 15+ different species of animals including lots of megafauna!
